Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Leak Renders

As per a report by XDA Developers, the foldable devices of Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4, are selling like pancakes. In fact, these mobile phones are the most popular devices in the burgeoning foldable phone market.

Despite that, other phone makers like Oppo and Motorola are trying to take the throne away from the South Korean phone maker.

The Chinese tech firm, Oppo, launched its first-ever clamshell phone early this year with the Find N2 Flip. Meanwhile, the Lenovo-owned Motorola is set to launch its next-generation Razr. These two phones are expected to compete against the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5. Now, Samsung seems to be gearing up to step up the competition.

New leaked renders of the Flip 5 put the shimmer of the spotlight on its redesigned cover display.

A well-known leaker, who goes by Onleaks on Twitter, reveals what the upcoming clamshell phone looks like when it sees the light of day sometime this year. The renders he shared showcase what sets the next-generation Galaxy Z Flip apart from the previous Samsung clamshell phones.

Redesigned Cover Display

It looks like the Korean phone maker got tired of the older outer look of the foldable device. And as such, the tech behemoth redesigned the cover display, making it a lot bigger than ever.

9to5 Google points out that the external display now predominantly covers the outer part of the device. The screen roughly spans about 3.4 inches. It is a striking upgrade from the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 since the two iterations of the clamshell phone are only 1.9 inches.

The larger overall display should enable Samsung to expand the functionality of the outer screen, potentially introducing new widgets. With that, users no longer have to flip open their phones to access some simple features.

Besides the larger estate, it also adopts a new overall shape. The leaked renders by Onleaks showcase an odd form for the display. It resembles a file folder as the screen gives way to the two rear cameras of the device.

According to Sam Mobile, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to debut before July ends. However, Samsung has yet to confirm its release date.
