Puppy gets credit for saving elderly builder's life after gnawing his toe "to the bone." Despite the damage the puppy did to David Lindsay's toe, physicians could locate two clogged arteries in his leg thanks to the heroic puppy.

According to the Straits Times, Lindsay, 64, who resides in Cambridge, England, claimed his wife's shouts woke him up from a slumber on the couch.

The guy looked down and saw that his bulldog, Harley, who was only seven months old, had been chewing on his right foot. His big toe was cracked, the toenail was falling off, and blood was on his finger.

Because of this, he lost all sensation in his foot. His wife took him to a local hospital, where he stayed for nine days.

A CT scan revealed two clogged arteries in his toe, and doctors urged him to get the blood flowing again or risk losing his limb. They debated whether to insert stents in his arteries to restore blood flow to his legs. Lindsay suffers from diabetes makes him more vulnerable to health issues.

Lindsay Wants To Keep His Hero Puppy

David Lindsay maintains his sense of humor despite the gravity of his condition, saying that his seven-month-old bulldog, Harley, did him a favor by nipping his toe.

He has declared his resolve to retain his pet dog even if it means losing his toe and is now waiting for the physicians' verdict on whether to perform a stent treatment to unclog the arteries.

"So I'm waiting to find out if they can put stents in. I'll be keeping the dog," he said, per Mirror.

When a person has diabetes, their blood sugar levels rise to dangerously high levels. Diabetes may be divided into two main categories: type 1 and type 2.

Both forms of diabetes are dangerous, but type 2 is much more common; in the United Kingdom, it accounts for almost 90% of all instances of diabetes in adults, according to NHS.
