NBA Playoffs 2023: Here's What You Need To Know

The 2023 National Basketball Association (NBA) season is set to begin now that the regular season has finished.

The league now has all the play-in matchups and the 4-5, 3-6 series in each conference. Now, the top two seeds in every conference will get an opportunity to find their first-round opponents, which will be determined via the play-in tournament.

NBA Playoffs 2023 Season Kicks In

If you are still getting familiar with how the play-in tournament works, the number 7 team plays against the number 8 team while the number 9 team faces off against the number 10 team. The 7-8 match winner will become the number 7 seed, while the loser will have to face off against the 9-10 game-winner to determine the number 8 seed, as per CBS Sports.

The tournament's first match will be between the Hawks and the Heat, and you can watch it on April 11, Tuesday. On the same day, the Timberwolves will duke it out against the Lakers at 10:00 p.m. ET, TNT for the number 7 seed.

On the second day, it will be a battle to get the number 8 seed between the Bulls and the Raptors, as well as between the Thunder and the Pelicans. After the first four matches, the next game is scheduled for April 14 and will be between the Bulls-Raptor match winner and the Hawks-Heat game loser.

Following the rules of the tournament, the game-winner between the Thunder and the Pelicans will face off against the loser of the match between the Timberwolves and the Lakers for the number 8 seed.

NBA Team Standings

Coming into the NBA playoffs 2023 season, the Golden State Warriors are the defending champions. In the tournament, 16 teams will face off against each other in four rounds of basketball action to determine the new or reigning 2023 champion, according to ESPN.

The top six teams from each conference automatically qualify for the playoffs, and the teams in the play-in tournament will battle it out for only two spots for each conference. The finals for this season of the NBA are set to start on June 1. Furthermore, if the tournament goes the mile, Game 7 is scheduled for June 18.

The current standings show the Milwaukee Bucks at the top of the Eastern Conference with 58-24, followed by the Boston Celtics with 57-25 and the Philadelphia 76ers with 54-28. Conversely, in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets take first place with 53-29 while being trailed by the Memphis Grizzlies with 51-31 and the Sacramento Kings with 48-34, said Bleacher Report.
