S Club 7 Shocked with Paul Cattermole's Death News

It was stated that the cause of his death is unknown, but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his passing on Thursday. S Club 7 was one of the most popular musical groups during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Their most popular songs were 'Reach,' 'Don't Stop Moving,' and 'S Club Party.' They had eleven top 10 singles in the United Kingdom, including four number ones, and sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Moreover, they won two Brit Awards.

Per BBC News, the group announced a reunion tour in February, with 11 arena dates in the United Kingdom and Ireland scheduled for later this year. Fan and acquaintance tributes have flooded in.

A radio and television presenter, Vernon Kay, described the news of Cattermole's demise as "so very sad."

Jeremy Edwards, the ex-boyfriend of S Club 7's Rachel Stevens, sent his condolences to her family and friends. The group's manager, Simon Fuller, who founded the group in 1998, stated: "Paul was a beacon of light for a generation of pop music fans, and he will be greatly missed. We're all deeply shocked and saddened by this news."

A television host, Lorraine Kelly, described Cattermole as a "lovely man" to interview, adding that she was "struck by how gentle and timid he was."

According to his family, Cattermole was discovered deceased in his Dorset house on April 6 and pronounced dead later that day. Currently, the cause of his death is unclear, as per The Independent.

Police in Dorset have verified that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the musician's demise. The band of Paul Cattermole shared a message on Twitter announcing the news: "We are genuinely devastated by the departure of our brother Paul."

His death occurred a week after the members of S Club 7 - Cattermole, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Jo O'Meara, Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, and Tina Barrett - announced a significant reunion tour.

Per Daily Mail, the news is said to have "shocked" his bandmates, including his ex-girlfriend Hannah Spearritt, who is reportedly "inconsolable."

As the band announced his passing in a tribute this afternoon, admirers shared their recollections of the famous performer.

Paul Cattermole's last social media post was a parody of S Club 7 "auditioning" for Eurovision, published on March 16, the day before Red Nose Day. In the touching video excerpt shared by Paul Cattermole, the group auditioned to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision in front of judges Graham Norton, Lulu, and Sam Ryder.

The judges explained that they were "on the search" for the next UK representative, with Lulu adding, "You won't believe who's attempting to get in on the action."

The camera then revealed the celebrity contestants, including S Club 7, Fleur East, and Miranda Hart. The band members Rachel Stevens, 44, Tina Barrett, 46, Jon Lee, 40, Bradley McIntosh, 41, and Jo O'Meara, 43, also starred in their very own BBC series Miami 7 and LA 7.

All seven members consented to the reunion, orchestrated by music magnate Simon Fuller - the man who put them together in 1998 after his previous band, the Spice Girls, fired him as their manager.

He called each of the seven stars individually to propose the initiative and said it would only be successful if they all agreed. S Club 7 released four studio albums and eleven singles that debuted in the top five of the UK rankings and sold over 10 million albums globally.

Paul Cattermole Suffered Bankruptcy

In 2002, Paul Cattermole stunned S Club 7's global fanbase when he abruptly announced his departure, citing "creative differences." The band's breakup was announced the following year.

Cattermole had a difficult time after departing the band, declaring bankruptcy in 2015 and even selling his Brit Award on eBay with the explanation, "There are debts to pay."

During a 2018 appearance on Loose Women, he confessed that he had run out of money and needed to borrow a shirt for the program. He made an impassioned appearance on First Dates Hotel dating program the following year.

The celebrity went on a date with music enthusiast Anna, but after being tenderly rejected, cried on camera and asked for a "moment" to compose himself.

He revealed that his "mental health deteriorated" and that his life was "difficult" after the dissolution of the group. He described how he anticipated "difficult and tumultuous times" as he alluded to his 2014 bankruptcy filing. Nonetheless, he sensed a glimmer of optimism as he began to feel energized and realized he was being "called to do something else."

After their 2003 separation, the band members went their separate ways. In 2008, Rachel pursued a solo music career and placed second on Strictly Come Dancing.

Cattermole launched a new YouTube channel titled Tarot Me This in 2021, where he solicited donations in exchange for readings and explained that "clairvoyance" was his new line of work. Later, he disclosed that he concealed his psychic abilities from the other members of S Club 7 out of concern that doing so would make him appear "crazy."
