Shakira has left Barcelona in quest of happiness. The singer announced over the weekend that she and her children Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, are relocating to Miami.

The 46-year-old mother claimed in a social media post that she left Barcelona to offer her two children "stability" and that the city taught her that "friendship is longer than love."

Shakira Seeks New Life in Miami

On Sunday, the 'Whenever, Wherever' singer uploaded a photo of Barcelona accompanying a lengthy Spanish-language caption, "Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me up, dry my tears, motivate me, and help me grow. Thank you to my Spanish-speaking audience for their undying love and support," the tearful singer concluded.

The significant change follows the singer's publicized breakup with Gerard Piqué after a 12-year partnership. Gerard recently disclosed that he had listened to Shakira's so-called "diss track" that appears to insult him and his current girlfriend, Clara Chia, 23.

The singer, whose birth name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, stated that the song was a cathartic way for her to express her anguish over their separation. According to Metro, he also emphasized his desire for his children's happiness. The athlete stated, "As parents, we must safeguard our children."

Per Daily Mail, the brunette bombshell was sighted at the Barcelona airport with her two sons on Sunday. She departed to an undisclosed place and will not return before relocating to Florida. The Catalan daily El Periodico called it her "last farewell" because the family will go to Miami to begin a new life there.

Shakira sported a stunning denim combination as she maneuvered through the airport with many bags while maintaining a relaxed appearance. She looked fantastic in jeans and a matching blazer over a blue shirt with sunglasses and blue trousers.

Shakira arranged her long, honey-colored hair in loose waves and opted for her signature luminous makeup. She was seen hugging someone before entering the departure area.

Gerard Pique Reacts

Per Mirror, the news of her departure follows earlier rumors that Shakira's ex-husband Gerard Pique was unhappy after the singer gave him days' notice that she would be leaving for Miami this week so that their children could begin school there on April 11.

The Spanish showbiz website Vanitatis claimed on Friday that the singer-songwriter would be leaving Barcelona to begin her new life with her parents and children in the United States by the end of the week.

Shakira experts Lorena Vasquez and Laura Fa, who regularly cover the mother-of-two for the Catalan newspaper El Periodico, reported that the artist's attorney Pilar Mane informed Pique's attorney Ramon Tamborero that she was departing permanently. They reported that Shakira called the former Barcelona player to confirm the news.

They also stated that the two boys would begin attending school in Florida on April 11, naming Miami Country Day, located just north of the city and regarded as one of the best private schools for children their age. None of the couple's attorneys were reachable for comment.

Pique was believed to be enraged and unsure of the exact date of their flight to the United States. Fa and Vazquez stated, "He is quite irritated because he was given very little notice."

He is opposed to the children in Barcelona not completing the school year. After spring break, US students return to courses on April 11. The Barcelona-based journalists predicted that Shakira and her children would depart Spain on April 1 after she postponed vacation plans at the beginning of the year due to the bad health of her 91-year-old father, William Mubarak.

Before her mother, Nidia Ripoll, was hospitalized with a blood clot in her leg in the Catalan capital. Shakira and Pique, who separated in May after 11 years of marriage, announced in November that they had reached an agreement following protracted negotiations culminating in a 12-hour marathon conference with their attorneys.

The following month, they signed the agreement at a court in Barcelona. Pique, currently dating the 24-year-old Catalan beauty, Clara Chia will spend the holidays with his children. Shakira's desire to relocate to Miami, where she previously resided and a portion of her family lives, is believed to have been the primary obstacle to an out-of-court settlement between the former pair.

The artist, who has relatives and several close friends in Miami, reportedly has a property in the city that she placed up for sale in 2018 before taking it off the market a few months later. According to the news website OK Diario, the 46-year-old mother of two met the unknown man months before penning her current diss song directed at Pique and his new partner Clara Chia.

The romance between the former Barcelona defender and 24-year-old Clara Chia was revealed shortly after he and Shakira announced their split. Last month, on the Jimmy Fallon late-night show, the singer-songwriter performed her diss tune with Argentina DJ Bizarrap, in which she throws poisoned darts at Pique and his new girlfriend.

She then discussed her breakup with the former football player. Pique stated in a subsequent interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais that he was "very pleased" due to the significant changes in his life, including his separation from Shakira and retirement from football.
