Less than two days before being put on a psychiatric hold, Amanda Bynes was spotted on St. Patrick's Day in Hollywood.
  • Amanda Bynes was given a 5150 psychiatric hold
  • The troubled 36-year-old actress was spotted naked, wandering near downtown Los Angeles
  • Bynes informed a driver that she was suffering from "a psychotic episode"

A source familiar with the issue said that Amanda Bynes had been placed on a mental health hold.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, around 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, Los Angeles law enforcement got a medical call for a female at a Sizzler parking lot at South Vermont Avenue and West Fourth Street.

Amanda Bynes' Heartbreaking Struggles

A law enforcement official who was briefed on the LAPD's response to the request for assistance stated that when officers arrived, they found Amanda Bynes. Moreover, a source familiar with the matter verified to ABC News that it was Bynes.

A law enforcement official said Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics medically cleared the actress from 'Easy A.' A mental health team was dispatched and brought her to the hospital on a 5150 or mental health hold.

In California, a mental health hold, also known as a 5150 hold, normally lasts for 72 hours but can be prolonged. The law enforcement official noted that she did not threaten during the phone contact, which was corroborated by a source familiar with the matter.

Bynes was spotted "naked" early Sunday morning and flagged a car down, informing the driver she was "coming down from a psychotic episode." The individual with knowledge of the scenario corroborated this information and that Bynes dialed 911.

This event occurred nearly a year after a court dissolved Bynes' conservatorship. Since 2013, when her mother, Lynn Bynes, was designated as her temporary conservator, the actress has been subject to a conservatorship.

The conservatorship was established after the 'All That' alum was put on involuntary mental detention for reportedly sparking a minor fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks, California, residential house.

Actress Attended Night Out with Friends Before 'Psychotic Episode'

The actress looks coherent as she interacted with her friend on a night out, recorded less than two days before she was discovered walking naked and alone during a "psychotic episode" and hours before she canceled a public appearance scheduled for Saturday.

Paul Michael, the ex-fiance of Amanda Bynes, asserts that she was 'off her medicines' before being placed on a psychiatric hold. Michael, who has been in an on-and-off romance with Amanda Bynes since they called off their engagement in July and reunited a month later, said: "She got off her meds, and she's still off her meds... She's wild."

He stated that he and Amanda Bynes are now friends after it was rumored that they had been living together in Los Angeles. Bynes and Michael became famously engaged on Valentine's Day, 2020, just a few months after residing at the same sober living facility.

Bynes is presently hospitalized and is expected to undergo care for many days. There is no indication that she was injured during the event. According to That's 4 Entertainment, the actress stopped reuniting with the rest of the 'All That' ensemble at '90s Con on Saturday, claiming an "unknown ailment."

The actress, who had previously voiced her desire to reconnect with her old Nickelodeon castmates at the event, was forced to cancel at the last minute. Her attendance at the reunion with Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, and Lori Beth Denberg would have been her first public appearance since her eight-year conservatorship ended in March 2022.

She has not publicly addressed the health issue that prevented her from attending, but only two months ago, she told People that she was "really pleased to rejoin with" her "cast mates and greet the fans" 23 years after the original program ended.

From 1996 until 2000, the performer co-starred on the sketch comedy program with Mitchell, 44, Tamberelli, 40, and Denberg, 46. All That was produced by Brian Robbins and Mike Tollin and ran on Nickelodeon from April 16, 1994, to October 31, 2005, for ten seasons.

Per Daily Mail, the program, described as 'Saturday Night Live for kids,' included brief comedic sketches and musical guests. In 2019, it was revealed that the series would be revived, with original cast member Kenan Thompson acting as executive producer and Mitchell returning to the cast; the eleventh season would premiere in June of that year.

The series' final episode aired on December 17, 2020, following the suspension of production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It catapulted Bynes into her 2000s rom-com phase before the troubled actress retired from performing.

According to sources close to the celebrity, she and Michael are dating after calling off their engagement throughout the summer. In early October 2022, the Nickelodeon star published a cryptic photo of herself holding hands with Paul Michael, who could be identified by his characteristic tattoos, on her Instagram Stories, sparking rumors of their newest reunion.

In 2012, Bynes committed two hit-and-runs and a DUI; in 2013, she was arrested for tossing a bong from the 36th floor of her Manhattan apartment. Despite her alleged mental health issues, Lynn and Rick Bynes allegedly have no plans to place Amanda Bynes back under conservatorship. TMZ adds that her family noted that she recognized her illness and sought therapy on her own.
