Harry Styles' controversial "people like me" acceptance speech at Friday night's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles has split fans.

The 29-year-old British singer entered the stage to deliver an emotional address, only to be interrupted by Beyonce's supporters chanting angrily.

The 41-year-old 'Renaissance' singer was a popular favorite to win the coveted award but lost to the former One Direction member's chart-topping single Harry Styles' House.

In a social media video, Beyonce's name is yelled at when Harry Styles praises his collaborators and the Grammy judging panel. As Harry Styles began his statement, the same individual yelled even louder that the Destiny's Child star "should have won."

A journalist from the United States who tweeted a video of the event said that many were leaving the ceremony in protest. It is unknown whether Harry Styles heard the heckler, as the 'As It Was' singer concluded his address to enthusiastic applause.

In addition to Beyoncé, Harry Styles defeated an astounding array of musical performers to win the prestigious Album of the Year award, including Adele with '30,' Bad Bunny with 'Un Verano Sin Ti,' Coldplay with 'Music of the Spheres,' and Lizzo with 'Special.'

Per Daily Mail, Beyoncé has been nominated for Album of the Year four times, despite being the artist with the most Grammy awards in history. In addition to booing in the audience, many fans resorted to Twitter to express their displeasure at Harry Styles' victory against Beyoncé.

Nonetheless, several fans quickly supported the musician, writing that he deserved the award. Earlier in the evening, Harry Styles defeated tough opposition, including Adele and Lizzo, to win the evening's first prize for Best Pop Vocal Album at the star-studded ceremony.

As he won, the pop singer was stunned and exclaimed, "Um, man. I've been so inspired by every artist in this category with me."

Niall Horan, a former member of Harry Styles' band, was among others to heap praise on the singer, posting a snap of his friend playing and gushing that he was "so proud." Harry also had Lizzo, Adele, and his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift as cheerleaders.

Harry Styles Grammy Performance

Even though he came from modest beginnings in England and even worked in a bakery as a child, some fans were not convinced by his choice of words, as per Mirror.

Moreover, the dancers for Harry Styles have spoken out about their Grammys performance, stating that an incorrect staging cue nearly derailed their entire routine.

The 'As It Was' singer sang his famous song at the ceremony and subsequently received the Album of the Year award amid controversy. However, as Styles handled the vocal portion of the production, the dancers were forced to perform in reverse when the walking turntable began rotating in the opposite direction of what had been practiced.

Brandon Mathis, one of the dancers performing with Styles, recounted the show on his Instagram Stories on Monday. Mathis then posted photographs of the event and a note of gratitude to the creative director, Yoann Bourgeois. Per The Independent, choreographer Dexter Da Rocha provided similar information regarding the turntable issue in a now-deleted TikTok video.
