Prince Harry's new memoir discloses a number of private disputes between him and other senior royals and describes his separation from the family.

Prince Harry's much awaited memoir, 'Spare,' has gripped the world and is shaping up to be one of the year's most popular books.

A series of high-profile interviews, together with leaked extracts and early book sales in Spain, increased interest in a memoir that presents a candid, though one-sided, account of Prince Harry's life.

Prince Harry Memoir Revelations

Prince Harry claims he chose to create 'Spare' when he came to England in April 2021 for his grandfather's funeral. There, he got the "astonished" conclusion that neither his father nor his brother actually understood why he and his wife, Meghan Markle, had relocated to California.

Here are the most shocking takeaways from the book.

1. King Charles Said Prince Harry Overreacts About Meghan Markle's Safety

Earlier in the book, Prince Harry says that some of his previous relationships failed because his girlfriends couldn't manage the deluge of media attention.

As a result, as bigotry, sexism, and death threats against Meghan Markle grew, Prince Harry sought advice from his father. However, Prince Harry said, "He said I was overreacting. This is sadly just the way it is."

2. Queen Elizabeth Asked Meghan Markle About Donald Trump

In October 2016, Prince Harry introduced Meghan Markle to numerous members of his family, including his grandmother. With the US presidential election a month away, many, including Queen Elizabeth, were thinking about Donald Trump.

"Granny even asked about Meg's opinion of Donald Trump," he writes. Following their encounter, Megha Marklen inquired as to the identity of the "assistant" who was carrying the queen's purse. He was Prince Andrew, not an assistant, Prince Harry assured her.

"She had most certainly not Googled us," Prince Harry writes. The previous year, Prince Andrew officially denied having intercourse with a minor in 2001, bolstering the prince's claimed link with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

3. King Charles, Prince William Were 'Furious' About Press Coverage of Meghan Markle

In 2016, Prince Harry issued a statement condemning the "sexism and racism" directed against Meghan by the media and internet trolls.

Not only did it not stop the "onslaught" of media attention, but it also "created a whole new onslaught - from my family," as Prince Harry explains. "Pa and Willy were both enraged. They spoke loudly to me. Both of them stated that my remark made them appear horrible. Why the blazes? Because they had never issued a statement on behalf of their girlfriends or spouses when they were harassed."

4. Prince William, Kate Middleton Felt Trapped

King Charles was in command of his sons' royal schedules, despite the fact that there was intense rivalry among royal family members to make the most official public appearances. That was frustrating for Prince William and Kate Middleton, according to USA Today.

Prince Harry says, "Pa and Camilla did not want Willy and Kate to receive a great deal of exposure." "Pa and Camilla disapproved of Willy and Kate for diverting attention from them and their causes. They had publicly reprimanded Willy on several occasions," Prince Harry recounts, adding, "Willy informed me that he and Kate both felt imprisoned and unfairly hounded by the press and by Pa and Camilla."

5. Prince Harry Used Drugs

Prince Harry describes several episodes of underage drinking, marijuana use, cocaine snorting, and psychedelic experimentation that led to his image as a party-boy.

When Prince Harry began attending Eton, he saw that many students had a "raging" cigarette habit. Accepting every cigarette handed to him before "graduating to marijuana" and watching "Family Guy" with his schoolmates after smoking sessions, he joined the group.

6. Prince William , Prince Don't Want Charles to Marry Camilla

As Camilla Parker-Bowles, now the queen consort of King Charles, became a larger part of his life following the loss of Princess Diana, he sat down with his sons to consider her future in their family.

While Prince Harry and Prince William claimed they would forgive Camilla for her "crucial role in the breakdown of our parents' marriage" and welcome her into the family, they requested that their father refrain from marrying her.

"We pleaded with you not to remarry," he writes. According to Prince Harry, Charles didn't respond. Camilla and Charles wed on April 9, 2005.

7. Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton Argue Via Text Message

Prince Harry has provided the first comprehensive description of the controversial bridesmaid dress fitting at the heart of the "Megxit" controversy, alleging that Princess Charlotte "cried as she tried it on at home."

Directly naming his niece - a violation of privacy that is certain to infuriate his brother Prince William - Prince Harry asserts that the incident was caused by his sister-in-law Kate, who seemed annoyed that Meghan had taken a day to respond to her about the issue.

Kate's refusal to visit Meghan's tailor at Kensington Palace and recommendations that they have a party for the page boys during Meghan's dispute with her father, Thomas Markle, allegedly escalated the conflict between the two women, according to the groom-to-be.

The prince begins his current assault by claiming that Meghan got a text from Kate four days before their wedding informing her that the bridesmaids' outfits required alterations, Daily Mail reported.

8. Royal Family Calls Prince Harry 'The Spare'

The term "The Heir and the Spare" refers to aristocratic households in which the first-born kid is the heir to the throne and the second-born is the child left behind to support the first-born.

As Prince Harry writes, it wasn't just media and palace outsiders who referred to him as such; his own family, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Charles, and Princess Diana, all referred to him as such.

According to NY Times, he says, "There was no judgment, but also no ambiguity." "I was in the shadow, the support, and the Plan B."

Why Prince Harry Wrote a Memoir?

After he and Meghan Markle stepped down from major responsibilities in the royal family and relocated to the United States in 2020, Prince Harry reconnected with his family for the first time after his grandpa Prince Philip's death the following year.

Prince Harry says that King Charles, who was Prince Charles at the time, and Prince William "came prepared to battle." Prince Harry recalls William, whom he refers to as "my belived brother, my arch nemesis," and his father stating that they "honestly" did not know why he left.
