Angelina Jolie is the latest famous person to come under internet criticism that compared her to actress Amber Heard.

According to an examination of internet videos and comments regarding Angelina Jolie, she has become the most recent star to experience online attacks in the form of comparisons to actor Amber Heard after a legal filing revealed new details of the abuse allegations made by Angelina Jolie against her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

A domestic violence researcher and an instructor in unconscious bias reveal that the allegations against Angelina Jolie are part of a pattern of misogynistic stereotypes leveled at high-profile female accusers.

Angelina Jolie Targeted by SocMed Creators

The thousands to millions of views they earn on social media and the money that can frequently follow are incentives for those who produce films criticizing Amber Heard. The actress' legal battle and trial with her ex-husband, actor Johnny Depp, sparked a separate wave of social media content that included false accusations against Heard as well as widely shared but misinterpreted trial recordings.

As seen by the hundreds of comments posted on Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube that disputed her charges of assault, social media users and creators are now comparing Angelina Jolie to Amber Heard. The attacks on Angelina Jolie happened after she filed a countersuit against Brad Pitt on October 4, saying that he had abused her and their children physically and emotionally.

Angelina Jolie detailed a tense 2016 flight on a private jet in the countercomplaint, during which she claimed Brad Pitt choked one of the children and punched another in the face. Days following the trip, she claimed that the experience prompted her to file for divorce.

In February, Pitt initiated the current civil lawsuit in response to Jolie selling her share of their French winery. However, the charges of abuse made by Jolie in her countercomplaint have gained prominence online, where a long-running cultural war has been fought between proponents and opponents of the #MeToo movement, as per NBC News.

Angelina Jolie's Email to Brad Pitt Leaked Online

Meanwhile, a public resurfacing of an email that Angelina Jolie addressed to her ex-husband Brad Pitt during their protracted divorce battle has brought attention to the ownership of their Chateau Miraval Winery.

The Oscar-winning actress, 47, wrote the email in January 2021, according to slides released by a TikTok user with the username @magshrts1, Entertainment Tonight confirmed in a court document.

When asked why she decided to sell her stake in the winery, the Maleficent actress claimed she had composed the email "so as not to become emotional." Angelina Jolie brought up a 2016 incident on a private jet in which she said Pitt choked one of the children; smacked another child in the face; and threw alcohol on her, according to court documents.

After selling her stake in the winery to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler and Tenute del Mondo, a Stoli Group company, Jolie was sued by Pitt in February. Pitt claimed in court documents that Jolie had not contributed to the project despite having pledged 40% of the $28.4 million they had spent in the winery.

He claimed that the transaction went against their 2019 divorce agreement's shared understanding that forbade them from selling their ownership stake in the venue without the other's consent. Pitt was sued for $250 million in September by Jolie's former business Nouvel, which claimed Pitt masterminded a so far successful plot to control the winery.

Six children, including twins Vivienne and Knox, 14, Maddox, 21, Pax, 18, Zahara, 17, and Shiloh, 16, were born to Jolie and Pitt. Pitt and Jolie, who were married in 2014 and divorced in 2016, have fought in court over several problems for the past six years, according to Daily Mail.
