Russia's Crimea Bridge was bombed by unknown forces threatening it, but the attack is seen as a desperate attempt to terrorize civilians and sow terror by malign actors.

Russia's Crimea Bridge has been attacked by unknown forces that caused damage to it. On Saturday morning, the connecting structure was on fire, causing suspicion of traffic along the structure.

Crimea Bridge Attacked After Donbass Referendum

Kerch Bridge, which is a parallel bridge, one road, and one railroad that Russia built after the Crimean annexation in 2014, reported Anadolu.

Social media portrayed the wanton destruction caused by the masterminds of the unprecedented attack. Images of a collapsed road and train cars burning on the longest bridge in Europe. Witnesses to the carnage said an explosive blast rocked the bridge when huge fire raged from it, seen in video footage.

All trains going to the Crimean Peninsula were stopped for a while due to the damage to infrastructure caused by alleged unknown forces; even ticket offices were closed by the Russian Railways, and bus trips were suspended as well, noted YeniSafak.

Russian President Vladimir Putin created a state commission to investigate the alleged terrifying incident, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Oleg Kryuchkov, a counselor to annexed Crimea's administration, said on Telegram that what happened was a fuel truck's tank must have caught on fire, as shown by initial reports, mentioned Business Standard.

He added that support for Russia's Crimea bridge is still intact, and no speculations were proffered as attempts to stop the blaze was being made.

The Energy Ministry of Russia confirmed that the enclave was stocked with 15 days of fuel. Also, there are two months of essential supplies, noted officials. Assessment by the Transport Ministry of damage on the Kerch Bridges was accomplished too.

Despite not saying Kyiv had a hand in the heinous civilian attack, these multiple statements by senior Ukrainian officials were quick to somewhat point to it.

Ukraine's high-ranking presidential counsel Mykhailo Podolyak stated that what happened on the bridge was only the start. Podolyak launched into a tirade, declaring that the Moscow forces must be driven out because the structure is illegal and Russian.

The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, mocked the Russian leader by posting a video, showing one side with the bridge burning and the other side playing the happy birthday song of Marilyn Monroe.

Another unnamed Kyiv official told the New York Times that the bridge explosion was his birthday present for Putin. Last Friday, he turned 70 years old.

Russian Official Says Spies Threaten the Kerch Bridge

The secretary of Russia's Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, on October 5 issued this statement, suggested that Ukrainian drifting mines represent a risk to vessels and port facilities and destabilization and terrorist activities by Ukrainian special services endanger Crimea's transport stability, citing TASS.

Mention that unmanned aquatic drones were detected and promptly demolished close to Sevastopol a while back. Patruschev expressed reservations about the situation affecting the security of the Crimean Peninsula under threat from Ukraine, which has alleged logistical support from the Biden administration.

The situation calls for additional measures to consider that more than one bad actor is threatening the civilian population with utter disregard for its overall security.

He added that many factors must be considered for the Kerch Bridge to ensure all eventualities can be dealt with in a worst-case scenario.

The attack on Russia's Crimea bridge is what Moscow calls a red line, and alleged unknown forces assaulted a critical infrastructure is a red line as well. Bad state actors are pushing a bad situation to the brink.
