The tech billionaire allegedly decided to drop his plans to purchase Twitter due to a threat of World War 3, citing a speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Tech mogul Elon Musk intended to delay his $44 billion Twitter buyout after Russia attacked Ukraine, stating in texts that the takeover wouldn't make sense if humanity is gearing toward "World War 3."

These texts were revealed at a Tuesday hearing on delaying a trial over Musk's proposal to purchase Twitter and other disagreements regarding discovery. Musk told Twitter in July that he was officially pulling out of his deal to buy the company. In a letter, he claimed Twitter had wrongly kept information about "bots" and spam accounts from him, according to a report from Business Insider.

The banker at Morgan Stanley, which is funding a portion of Elon Musk's Twitter acquisition, received the texts on May 8.

The businessman also referenced Vladimir Putin's upcoming address in these letters.

Vladimir Putin made the remarks at a speech on May 9 honoring the 77th anniversary of the Allies' triumph over Nazi Germany. He also made the erroneous assertion that the West was preparing to invade Russia.

More Time Needed

Reading out Musk's texts during the hearing, the social media company's lawyer said: "Let's slow down just a few days, Putin's speech tomorrow is really important. It won't make sense to buy Twitter if we're heading into World War 3."

The whole text chain is anticipated to be posted on the court docket next week, according to Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, a lawyer representing Musk, who said that the description of the texts in court was "utter nonsense."

In April, Musk agreed to acquire Twitter and take it private. Twitter almost quickly sued Musk to enforce the contract and forced him to buy it at the agreed-upon $44 billion price when he said he was canceling the agreement in July. It is widely believed that Musk is losing the legal battle, which will involve a five-day trial in early October.

Peiter Zatko, Twitter's former senior information security officer, complained to Congress last month in a formal disclosure that Twitter was handling different security concerns insufficiently. Musk's attorneys used this complaint as evidence before the hearing on Tuesday. They said that Zatko's troubles need additional time.

Reading over Musk's texts, Twitter's attorney reaffirmed the company's claim that Musk was in breach of the contract and that his main reason for attempting to exit the agreement was personal financial worries.

The more than three-hour-long session was concluded by Musk's attorneys' request to postpone the October trial, saying their camp is not the one producing this disruption or "this delay," per Engadget.

Humans May Need To Conquer Mars Due To World War 3 Risk

Elon Musk believes humans may need to colonize Mars in consideration of World War 3.

Indy 100 reported that the tech tycoon stated on a Full Send Podcast episode last month that he thinks it would be advantageous to create a second planet to ensure that civilization would never be wiped out.

According to the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, if a natural calamity or the "a little more probable" eruption of World War 3 occurred, people would have a place to go.
