In a recent interview, one of the men detained in connection with the 2016 robbery of Kim Kardashian thinks the reality star "should be a little less showy."

One of the masterminds behind Kim Kardashian's hotel heist in Paris in 2016 has blamed his celebrity victim for the crime, stating she "should be a little less showy."

Yunis Abbas was sentenced to nearly two years in jail for the dramatic $10 million theft in which Kardashian was tied up and placed in her hotel room bathtub by thieves acting as policemen.

Thief Blames Kim Kardashian for Infamous Paris Robbery

The burglars, all of whom were over 60 and branded as the "grandpa gangsters" by social media, robbed Kardashian of $10 million in valuables, including Kanye West's $4 million, 20-carat engagement ring.

Abbas, who is in his late 60s, was one of 12 people detained in connection with the Paris Fashion Week crime. He was freed from prison after 22 months for health issues that appeared to be connected to his heart. He said that the group utilized the Internet to hunt down Kardashian and rob her after noticing her on social media displaying her valuables.

Abbas stated that he remained downstairs at the hotel to maintain a watch as his co-conspirators bound and tied the reality star in the hotel bathtub. Abbas, who was interviewed by VICE News for a piece about influencer thefts, had previously spoken about the robbery, even penning a biography called 'I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian,' as per New York Post.

The men who broke into her suite reportedly tied her up, gagged her, and dumped her in the bathtub while she pled for her life. While fleeing on his bicycle, Abbas lost a 30,000€ diamond-encrusted crucifix, which was found hours later by a pedestrian, according to France 24.

Robbery Incident Left Kim Kardashian "Paranoid" For a Year

Yet, Abbas told VICE that his arrest was the result of him leaving some of his DNA on the concierge while tying him up, allowing the police to hunt him down, a process made simpler because he "already had a record."

Abbas was subsequently imprisoned for 22 months before being released on medical grounds. He has now authored a memoir about the crime. One of the guys detained for the crime, Aomar Ait Khedache, informed French police that the engagement ring was the sole remaining piece of Kardashian's stolen property.

Le Monde got a copy of Khedache's police interrogation in early 2017, in which he revealed that his group melted down and sold off the rest of the loot. Kardashian subsequently told David Letterman that the encounter made her paranoid for a year and that she had half a dozen security at her Calabasas home.

Last year, five years after the burglary, she disclosed that the experience had left her so traumatized that she no longer kept any valuables at home, even in a safe. The 12 'grandpa robbers' were charged on various charges last November in connection with the Paris diamond robbery, which sent shockwaves throughout the world. Kardashian will not have to face her suspected assailants in court because French law protects her from being cross-examined, Daily Mail reported.
