The US is having a dilemma about what to do with India which allowed the transport of Russian oil, that could mean supporting Russia.

The US banned any transport of banned Russian oil, which India is suspected of transporting. New Delhi said that the US administration is displeased with their involvement.

US Retaliations

According to Michael Patra, deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Washington has contacted New Delhi with questions on purported shipments of Russian oil products to the US from New Delhi, according to a report by Reuters on Saturday.

There are sanctions against people who are buying Russian oil, and the US Treasury reported this.

The Indian ship encountered a Russian tanker in mid-ocean, transferred the Russian oil there, and proceeded to a port in Gujarat, where it was processed and turned into a distillate used to create single-use plastic, noted The Times of India.

When the oil had been refined, it was put back on the ship that had carried it and sailed away until it received a request to proceed to New York. At an Odisha ceremony commemorating Indian independence, Patra delivered a speech saying that war works in unusual ways, but withheld the ship's identity or any other pertinent information, reported RT.

The US prohibited Russian oil and oil exports from entering the country earlier this year as part of penalties placed on Russia about the Ukraine conflict.

New Delhi Ignores the US

India has instead supported Moscow by buying more Russian oil this year it rarely, more purchased from March, taking advantage of the discount Moscow has offered.

According to Bloomberg, Russia surpassed Saudi Arabia as South Asia's second-largest supplier in June to India, after only Iraq.

Bloc Scrambles To Buy Russian Oil

The EU boosted its purchases of Russian oil and oil products in June compared to the previous month, based on the preliminary Eurostat figures cited by Moscow's RBC on Thursday.

This surge occurred after EU countries accepted a moratorium on Russian crude, scheduled to take effect in early 2023.

In June, imports of oil products from Russia reached 2.65 million tons, up 9.7% from the preceding month. Due to Western sanctions, Russia's overall supply of fossil fuels to the rest of Europe has decreased.

Russian oil shipments to the EU in June 2022 were 7% lower than they were in the corresponding month in the previous year, while sales of oil-related goods fell by 24%.

The bloc imposed a partial embargo on Russian oil as part of the sixth set of restrictions that were announced in June.

This embargo prohibited sea shipments to the region and prevented businesses from guaranteeing and reinsuring the sea shipping of Russian oil and refined goods to nations outside the EU.

Sanctions of Joe Biden have plunged all those allies into financial, energy, and food insecurity. Even threatening anyone against the sanctions, even the Saudis has thrown him aside.

The US is not pleased with India and its transporting of Russian oil which is a rebuke of Washington, acting intermediary for Russian oil.
