Abbott has been sending illegal immigrants to Washington, DC to protest the Biden administration's lack of action on the Texas border problem for months.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams slammed Texas Governor Greg Abbott in response to the second busload of undocumented immigrants arriving at his area on Sunday.

At a press conference on Sunday morning at the Port Authority, Adams welcomed a bus carrying about 40 refugees, only 14 of whom got off in the Big Apple, according to a report from Fox News.

"This is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing," Adams said, noting that many of the arriving families did not realize they were coming to New York City.

He added that the families "were forced on the bus with the understanding that they were going to other locations that they wanted to go to, and when they tried to explain they were not allowed to do so."

His remarks come after the initial arrival on Friday of about 50 migrants at a Port Authority in New York City.

A Manufactured Crisis?

Adams has charged the governor of "manufacturing a crisis" by using defenseless people "as political pawns."

On Sunday, he expressed dissatisfaction over Abbott's administration's failure to adequately notify New York City of the refugees' impending arrival.

Mayor Eric Adams said: "They're not letting us know when the buses are leaving. They're not letting us know what are the needs of the people on the bus. They are not giving us any information, so we're unable to really provide the service to people en route."

Since April, Abbott has also been deploying undocumented workers to Washington, DC protest the Biden administration's inaction on the Texas border crisis.

According to Abbott's statement he released on Friday, Operation Lone Star has filled in the "dangerous" holes left by the Biden Administration's failure to protect the border.

"Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to more than 290,700 migrant apprehensions and more than 18,000 criminal arrests, with more than 15,400 felony charges reported," Abbot further claimed.

After first refuting Mayor Eric Adams' assertions that migrants being brought from Texas were overcrowding the city's homeless shelters, Governor Greg Abbott stated on Friday that he has begun sending buses to New York.

In addition to Washington, D.C., Abbott added in a statement that New York City is the best place for these migrants to settle because it offers them access to the "abundance of city services and housing" that Mayor Eric Adams has bragged about in the "sanctuary city."

He added: "I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief."

Thousands of Migrants Have Already Been Moved

Recent estimates indicate more than 200 buses transporting more than 4,000 migrants have landed in Washington, DC since the operation began.

The Independent reported that an research conducted by NBC 5 in Dallas revealed that each passenger cost Texas taxpayers about $1,400.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has turned down a request from D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for the National Guard to assist received migrants transported to Washington, D.C. via bus.

A Pentagon official claimed in a statement that providing the requested resources would have a bad effect on the preparedness of the DC National Guard, as per a report from CBS News.
