Robby Olivares, the long-time barber for ex-NFL star Aaron Hernandez, may have information about the events leading up to the murder of Odin Lloyd.  Olivares could become a crucial witness for the prosecution's case against Hernandez, MyFoxBoston.com reports.

Court documents filed by the prosecution on Friday indicate the Commonwealth believes Olivares may have knowledge about the events on June 14 at Rumor nightclub, where investigators believe Lloyd said or did something to cause Hernandez to no longer trust him.

Lloyd's body was found on June 17 in an industrial park near Hernandez's North Attleborough home.

Information about what transpired at the nightclub could strengthen the prosecution's case against Hernandez by providing a motive for why Lloyd was murdered.  Without any other credible witnesses, Olivares could prove to be the prosecution's star witness.

In the summer, Olivares "guided" the grand jury investigating Hernandez for the Lloyd murder to a "secret" apartment owned by the former Patriot.

It's uncertain if the Commonwealth has any evidence Olivares was at Rumor on June 14, but the court filings suggest the Commonwealth believes the barber may have been present because of his friendship with Hernandez.

In addition to being Hernandez's barber, photos posted on Olivares's Instagram account indicate he and Hernandez socialized as friends.

"He show me love like he's fam so I show him da same!" a comment next to a picture of Olivares and Hernandez read, according to MyFoxBoston.

An attorney for Hernandez claimed the prosecution was "fishing" for evidence during a court hearing on Friday, when a judge ruled the prosecution didn't show enough probable cause to warrant a subpoena for recordings of Hernandez's jailhouse phone calls.

Hernandez is charged with first-degree murder and five gun-related offenses in the shooting death of Lloyd.  Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bail while awaiting trial.

Authorities are also investigating Hernandez's role in an unsolved 2012 double homicide in Boston.  Although there's reportedly evidence that links Hernandez to the shooting, he has not been charged.

His next court date is scheduled in June.
