Dwayne Haskins’ Death Report Reveals Steelers QB Was Drunk Before Tragic Death, Hit Twice in Florida Highway

Dwayne Haskins was intoxicated when he got hit by a dump truck on a Florida Highway, which killed him in April, according to a toxicology report.

Dwayne Haskins was intoxicated when he got hit by a dump truck on a Florida Highway, which killed him in April, according to a toxicology report from Broward County Medical Examiner.

The report indicated that Haskins had alcohol levels of .20 and.24 in two different samples collected from his body, both of which were above the legal limit in Florida of.08. Haskins also tested positive for ketamine and norketamine, substances used by medical experts as anesthetics but also known to be used recreationally, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.

Haskins died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the medical examiner. His death was ruled accidental.

Before Dwayne Haskins Death, he was in Florida that weekend to train with Pittsburgh Steelers teammates. According to the investigation report, a Steelers official informed the medical examiner's office that the night before his death, Haskins went to dinner with a cousin or friend, whose name was "Joey," and then later went to a nightclub, "possibly in Miami."

Haskins Drank Heavily

A "female companion" was in Haskins' automobile when it was discovered on the side of the highway. According to the medical examiner's investigation, the Florida Highway Patrol informed Haskins had left the vehicle to look for fuel. Per the report, the woman's relationship with Haskins remained unknown.

Haskins' wife, who was not with him at the time of the tragedy, told a 911 operator that the quarterback was walking to buy gas on the morning he was struck and killed, according to 911 recordings released in April, per ESPN.

Kalabrya Haskins told the 911 operator that her husband contacted her early on April 9 to say he was getting out of his car to buy gas and would call her back when he got back in. When she didn't hear anything, she dialed 911 and asked dispatch to check on him.

"They drank heavily and at some point, they got into a fight, separating," the report states.

A final crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol in April stated Haskins was strolling on the westbound side of I-595 when he entered the travel lanes and into the path of the dump truck, which was going in the center lane, The dump truck's front left corner hit him.

Family Requests For Privacy During Investigation

The Washington Commanders selected Haskins with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. The Steelers signed him before last season, as per the Miami Herald.

His wife issued a statement on updates on Dwayne Haskins Death on Monday afternoon through her attorney Rick Ellsley. It was posted by Ian Rapoport, National Insider for NFL Network, on Twitter.

"He was a loving and dedicated husband, a son, and a brother. He wanted to be a father and eventually a grandfather. He was a humanitarian who loved children and animals," the statement reads.

It also indicated Haskins' accomplishments as an athlete: "He was the MVP at the Rose Bowl. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy."In its closing, the bereaved family requested privacy.

"We respectfully request and pray for privacy, for patience, and for the public to withhold any judgment during this period while the law enforcement authorities continue to investigate and conduct their important work.
