Prince William reportedly takes a last-minute trip to take charge of one of Queen Elizabeth's royal duties for the first time.

Following a tragic tragedy, Prince William undertook a last-minute journey overseas on behalf of the Queen. He went to the United Arab Emirates to express Her Majesty's and the royal family's condolences on the death of the country's ruler, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During a visit with the federation's new president and ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the duke paid his respects. The visit of Prince William to the oil-rich emirate comes as presidents and prime ministers from across the world descend on the UAE.

Prince William Makes Last-Minute Trip

The duke flew in overnight to perform the duties on behalf of the Queen, demonstrating William's growing power. It's the first time William, the monarch's second-in-line to the throne, has been requested to convey the monarch's condolences following the death of a foreign leader.

In an image posted to the British Embassy's Twitter account, the duke was seen seated next to Sheikh Mohammed, dressed in a dark suit, black tie, and wearing a mask.

Sheikh Khalifa, who presided over the country's fast transition into a worldwide economic hub and regional power center for years, died on Friday at the age of 73. After the two nations established formal relations in 2020, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other leaders, including Israel's president, traveled to the UAE on Sunday to express their sympathies. Since Sheikh Khalifa's stroke in 2014, Sheikh Mohammed has functioned as the country's de facto leader as the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Mirror reported.

Prince William was most likely chosen for the trip since the Queen, 96, seldom goes abroad these days due to her mobility concerns, which have limited her public appearances in recent months, while Prince Charles, 73, is set to begin his royal tour in Canada on Tuesday. The visit is part of the monarch's Platinum Jubilee festivities, which honor his 70th year of the reign.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prince William made his first official visit to the UAE in February, marking his first royal journey overseas in nearly two years. At the invitation of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, he traveled to Dubai to attend UK National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, according to Mirror.

Why Did Liverpool Fans Boo Prince William?

Furthermore, soccer supporters booed Prince William at the FA Cup final as a protest against the system rather than personal hostility, according to analysts. When the Duke of Cambridge's presence was broadcast on the tannoy at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Liverpool fans were accused of the booing. The UK among the outrage from the British political elite, legislator Karen Bradley, a former Conservative Party culture minister, urged for those involved to face penalties.

The slight, on the other hand, may have nothing to do with the prince as an individual and everything to do with the club's and city's political past. The Hillsborough incident occurred in 1989 when 96 people were murdered in a mass crush at a Liverpool-Nottingham Forest match.

Initially, Liverpool fans were incorrectly blamed for the event. According to the BBC, South Yorkshire and West Midlands police departments agreed to compensate 600 individuals last year for a cover-up of mistakes made by officers on the day.

Whether personal or not, the booing came hot on the heels of Prince William's catastrophic Caribbean visit in March, which was supposed to mark Queen Elizabeth II's reign for 70 years. After meeting William and his wife, Kate Middleton, on March 23, there were protests and requests for reparations and an apology for slavery, and Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed a desire to remove the queen as head of state, as per Newsweek.
