Multiple People Injured After Mass Shooting At Buffalo Food Market

BUFFALO, NY - MAY 14: Buffalo Police on scene at a Tops Friendly Market on May 14, 2022 in Buffalo, New York. According to reports, at least 10 people were killed after a mass shooting at the store with the shooter in police custody.

On May 14th, a gunman dressed in body armor and armed with a high-powered rifle killed ten people and injured three others. Two of whom were critically, outside and inside a Tops supermarket on Jefferson Avenue.

An 18-year-old white male from outside Buffalo was arrested following a racially motivated attack at a Tops grocery store, according to officials. Eleven of the thirteen people who were shot were African-American.

The suspect has been identified as Payton Gendron of Conklin, New York, about 200 miles southeast of Buffalo, according to two law enforcement officials. The officials were not allowed to speak publicly about the incident and spoke on the condition of anonymity. According to one of the officials, the suspect was being questioned by the FBI on Saturday evening.
