Kanye West Did Not Rehearse for Coachella Before Backing Out; Fans Fire Mixed Reactions

Following Kanye West's cancellation of his 2022 Coachella performance, fans on social media have mixed reactions--with some requesting female artists to perform as replacement.

This year's Coachella will be without Kanye West, leaving the event with a vacant headlining slot. Although a source claims that he had neither rehearsed nor prepared for the presentation, the reason for his cancellation was not immediately evident.

Kanye West also abruptly canceled a scheduled headline appearance at the 2020 event, which was ultimately postponed until this year owing to the pandemic, as per TMZ.

Kanye West's Pullout From Coachella Headlining Set

There are many other reasons why the news isn't surprising, including Kanye West's unpredictable and combative behavior in recent months, which cast doubt on his appearance even before it was announced in January; he had been barred from a planned appearance on Sunday night's Grammy Awards due to his concerning online behavior.

Following occurrences comparable to his conduct in previous months, Kanye West canceled the last dates of his 2016 'Saint Pablo' tour and was hospitalized for mental-health issues shortly afterward. Kanye West has said that he suffers from bipolar illness on several occasions.

Coachella now has an evident void due to Kanye West's cancellation. The likes of Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, and Swedish House Mafia are still on the bill. However, there is an obvious absence of diversity.

Travis Scott had been rumored to be joining West for the performance, but TMZ reports that he will not be there as well. Since ten people died in a stampede for the stage during his headlining performance at the Astroworld event in Houston in October, Scott has kept a quiet profile.

Coachella, North America's largest music event, has already sold out its 125,000 per-day tickets, and the sheer logistics of more than 100,000 individuals flying to and congregating at a single site creates incalculable disease transmission opportunities, according to Variety.

Last month, the rapper was banned from Instagram for allegedly attacking his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her lover Pete Davidson on the social media platform. At the time, a spokeswoman for Meta, the social media site business, informed TMZ that the rapper's remarks violated the company's hate speech, harassment, and bullying regulations.

Kanye West won a Grammy Award, but he was unable to attend owing to a ban imposed by both the Grammys and CBS due to the artist's "concerning online behavior" after making many threats on social media directed towards Kim and Pete.

West appears to have toned down his assaults recently since he was seen with his ex-wife Kim at their son Saint's baseball game in Los Angeles late last month, as per Daily Mail.

Even then, fans have begun to speculate about who would replace West as the main performer on night three, with some advocating for Will Smith or a female singer to take his place.

"A female rapper has yet to headline #Coachella," created a fan page for Nicki Minaj.

According to another Twitter user, "Nicki Minaj should headline Coachella 2022!!!! That is IT & that is All!!!"

Another person tweeted, "Nicki Minaj needs to be the first Female Rapper to headline Coachella."

Others have theorized that rapper Doja Cat, who was scheduled to play following West, will be relocated to the main stage for the April 17 and 24 shows, Newsweek reported.
