NFL legend Tom Brady announced on social media that he will be returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season in the league. The announcement came less than two months after he suggested his retirement from the game.

Tom Brady, a legendary quarterback who has played 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, announced his next step will be continuing to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he teased his potential retirement less than two months ago.

In a Twitter post on Sunday, Brady said that he would be returning for his 23rd season in the NFL with the Buccaneers. The seven-time Super Bowl champion said in his post that his reason for the decision was because he had "unfinished business."

The athlete said that in the last two months, he had enough time to realize that his place was still on the field and not in the stands simply watching games. He expressed his love for his teammates and his supportive family.

Furthermore, on the same day as his announcement, Brady posted a video on his Instagram account's stories where he was asked by Cristiano Ronaldo, a professional footballer, who asked him, "You're finished, right?" as per ESPN"

While the NFL legend's reply was not audible in the video footage, his facial expression suggested that he was not fully closing himself off from the possibility of playing. The situation came after Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said at the NFL combine two weeks ago that Brady "slammed it shut" when he talked to the player.

Brady's career began in 2000 when he was drafted by the Patriots where he won six Super Bowls. He played the last two seasons with the Buccaneers, who the athlete spent his time with when he won his seventh Super Bowl title in 2021.

According to People, in a previous interview, Brady said that he always thought getting to the age of 45 was the time that he would feel ready about retiring from the NFL. Throughout his career in the last two decades, the quarterback became a five-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time league MVP. At the age of 43, Brady became the oldest player to be named Super Bowl MVP and win a Super Bowl as the starting quarterback.

Returning to the Field

Six weeks ago, Brady seemed to announce his retirement from the NFL after he posted that he needed to focus his time and energy on other things that needed his attention. The Buccaneers' 2021 season ended with a 30-27 loss to the Rams on Jan. 23 in a division-round game. They were three wins short of their goal of repeating as Super Bowl champions.

Fans have shared their reactions to Brady's announcement of returning to the Buccaneers on social media platforms. One user said that he was waiting for a follow-up tweet from the NFL legend that his account was hacked.

The majority of the reactions were either optimistic or emotional as many fans were excited to continue seeing their beloved quarterback play on the field. One user jokingly asked whether or not Brady broke the news of him unretiring because he wanted to be the one that revealed the shocking revelation instead of media outlets, the Tampa Bay reported.
