Video footage of a Ukrainian dad saying goodbye to his daughter before leaving to fight the Russian invasion has gone viral. Many social media users have called the moment heartbreaking while they criticized Moscow's decision to attack Ukraine.

Heartbreaking video footage of a Ukrainian father saying goodbye to his daughter has gone viral as the man was forced to take part in the fight against Russia's continued acts of aggression in the Eastern European nation.

The man could be seen hysterically in tears as he bids farewell to his young child and his partner, hugging his kid and patting her on her head. Both the child and her mother could be seen tearfully heading into a coach that would travel to a safe zone, away from Russian forces.

Heartbreaking Moment

As the bus closes its doors and begins to travel away, the father could be seen putting his hand on the vehicle's window as onlookers continue to watch the emotional moment, as per Independent.

The recording has gone viral on social media platforms, garnering emotional support from online users and has been upvoted more than 19,000 times, and had more than 1,100 comments on Reddit. One social media user said they could not even begin to imagine what the child was going through and called the situation "painful and heartbreaking."

Another user said that as a man, it was emotional that the father was required to go to war with the uncertainty of never seeing his daughter ever again. The user said that he teared up while watching the video footage.

A separate comment said that the same thing happened to his father in the Yugoslav war, saying that he had two other siblings, himself being the eldest. He noted that their father found them in a camp in Turkey two years after being separated. The father then rescued his children and moved them to the United States in 1995.

According to Newsweek, Ukrainian residents reportedly started fleeing to various parts of the country or to other nations altogether in an attempt to protect themselves and their loved ones. The situation comes as reports indicate that Russia's multi-pronged invasion of the Eastern European nation continues.

Tension Between Russia and Ukraine

The violence between Russia and Ukraine is the most recent development in the months-long build-up of troops at the border of the two regions. Moscow's attack on its neighbor threatens to destabilize Europe and trap the United States into participating.

In recent weeks, international leaders have attempted to come to a diplomatic solution with Russia, efforts that have ended in vain. Moscow has continued to tighten its military grip on Ukraine since last year, amassing tens of thousands of military soldiers and equipment and artillery.

The years-long conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in the greatest security crisis in Europe since the Cold War. Many believe that Moscow's continued aggression and attacks on several parts of Ukraine foreshadow a dangerous showdown between Western powers and Russia.

The invasion began after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk. He then ordered the deployment of "peacekeeping" forces into the areas that have been under the control of pro-Russian rebels for the last 10 years, a move that has forced other countries to impose sanctions, CNN reported.
