The hottest mobile game "Flappy Bird" is generating an average of $50,000 a day through in-app advertisements.

Flappy Bird, which was created by Vietnam-based developer Dong Nguyen and published by .GEARS studios, is currently the most popular virtual game in town. In fact, it has been in the number 1 spot in both Google's Play Store and Apple's App Store for almost a month now.

The Verge reported that the game has been downloaded more than 50 million times since its release last May 2013 and has garnered more than 47,000 reviews.

However, some accused Nguyen to using bots to increase its popularity at the start of this year. When asked to comment on this, he told The Telegraph, "I respect all other people opinions. I won't give any comment to this article. I'd like to make my games in peace."

"The reason Flappy Bird is so popular is that it happens to be something different from mobile games today, and is a really good game to compete against each other," said Nguyen to The Verge. "People in the same classroom can play and compete easily because [Flappy Bird] is simple to learn, but you need skill to get a high score."

To those who haven't played the game yet, it is simply a "tap and tap" game. Users will just have to tap the screen to make the chubby pixelated bird that looks like a fish fly high and untap the screen to make it go down. The goal is to reach the unreachable and "don't-know-if-there-is" finish line. However, that is not what drives the gamers insane; it's the obstacles along the way. During its flight, the bird simply needs to go past green pipes (similar to the pipes in the well-loved arcade game Mario Bros.). Each green pipe is equivalent to one point. But for some reasons, it seems really difficult, so what becomes the crucial goal now is to get at least a score of three, which would take the player an hour with several restarts.

The mechanics of the game is just the same for any platform, but Nguyen said that it is easier played on Android than on iOS.
