Foursquare's latest update for Android and iOS apps brings the freedom of ordering food from over 20,000 restaurants in the U.S.

Foursquare is trying hard to shed its image of just a social check-in service. Integration with GrubHub and Seamless in a latest update to iOS and Android apps lets users order food from over 20,000 restaurants in hundreds of cities across the U.S. The updated apps will feature a new GrubHub or Seamless icon under the "View Menu" icon, and lets you get right on with placing orders from nearest restaurants.

"Simply click on the GrubHub or Seamless icon and start placing your order. You don't even need to put on pants (but that would be nice)!" the company wrote in its blog post, Thursday.

The update is live for Foursquare.com, Android and iOS users. Users can also look up nearest restaurants that offer home delivery. "Search for what you're craving and the word "delivery" to see the restaurants nearby that will come to you," Foursquare said. Unfortunately, the social check-in service did not reveal if and when the update will hit the Windows Phone Store.

To further enhance the web experience, Foursquare also announced a new update to desktop version. The maps are improved to highlight neighborhoods, important landmarks, and other reference points along with tweaks to the overall design. This change comes as a result of Foursquare's integration with Mapbox.

"Our maps now also feel more like the rest of the site, with improved typography, a new color scheme, and fun patterns for water and parks," Foursquare said in another blog, Thursday.
