Apple chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer revealed on Monday that the latest iOS7 is now found on 80 percent of all active iOS devices.

Apple may have faced several setbacks with its newest iOS7, but it has found a way to convince its users to upgrade to the most recent mobile OS. During the company's earnings call on Monday, Apple's chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer announced that iOS7 had hit 80 percent adoption rate, which is the highest compared to previous iOS versions, reports ARS Technica.

Apple released iOS7 alongside iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in September last year, and now it is the world's most popular mobile operating system. The swift adoption rate has pushed it ahead of Android's most recent and most-talked-about OS, KitKat, which currently powers only 1.4 percent of devices. Android's older Jelly Bean version dominates the Android platform with a total of 59.1 percent, as of January 8.

The Apple iOS7 platform is growing steadily, with a modest increase of two percent from data released last month. The latest statistics show that the older iOS6 version still powers 17 percent of active iOS devices, whereas a very small percentage of 3 percent belongs to older iOS versions. The data was collected over a seven-day period ending January 26, 2014, and the calculations are based on Apple App Store usage.

Apple touted its iOS7 to be the biggest update to the iOS platform since the beginning. The version is the first to be designed by Apple's Jonathan Ivy, featuring redesigned UI, flat icons, aesthetic design, new notification area, gyroscope-driven parallaxing, translucency and a lot more. The introduction of the new OS was not greeted kindly as several users complained about various problems with the iOS7. Eventually, Apple found ways to fix the problems and win over users trust. The latest statistics clearly show Apple has been quite successful in doing so.

Apple is currently testing the next update for iOS 7, version 7.1, but the exact launch date is still unannounced. The tech giant released the iOS7.1 beta 4, Monday to selected users, which is the last test phase before an update arrives for the general public.
