A California teenager was sentenced to life in prison plus 21 years and four months on Thursday for a string of crimes including attempted murder and stealing celebrity chef Guy Fieri's Lamborghini, the New York Daily News reported.

According to investigators, Max Wade began living a criminal lifestyle at the age of 16, when he stole his first $200,000 convertible from a San Francisco car dealership.

By April of 2012, he was involved in a drive-by shooting with one other man -- allegedly to scare him because he was dating the girl Wade liked -- and stole Fieri's expensive car. Once police began investigating him, he led them to a storage facility in Richmond where he was keeping the Lamborghini.

Greg Garrett, lead detective in the case, acknowledged that Wade was "intelligent" about committing his crimes.

"It's amazing, he's obviously very intelligent and some of his stuff was definitely the work of a very sophisticated criminal," Garrett said to KGO. He added that Wade was planning to rob a jewelry store that involved a helicopter, police uniforms, and explosives.

"He had photographs of many of the employees. He had their names, some biographical information on some of the employees," Garrett said.

Wade was planning to drop a bomb or smoke device at a nearby Macy's for distraction while he and accomplices, dressed as police officers, went into the store.

"And he had two Hollywood-style, very expensive masks, rubber masks," the lead detective added.

Though Wade was under 18 when he committed the crimes, he was charged as an adult in Marin County Superior Court. During the trial, his defense attorney reportedly argued that the court should have been more lenient on his client due to abuse he suffered at home.

He is expected to be elligble for parole in 17 to 18 years, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
