As more than 1,200 law professors of both political parties sign a petition stating the obvious legal fact that Judge Kavanaugh's behavior at last week's hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee "displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land," the Republican leadership is forging forward with Judge Kavanaugh's nomination, ignoring the legal, moral, political and institutional perils that lie just ahead.
