Latest studies just confirmed and supported that interrupted sleep may lead to dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This is the very reason why getting a good sleep is good not just for feeling good the next day but it also protects against the above-mentioned illnesses.

A new research was just presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in London just last Tuesday. This said study just claimed and proved that people with consistent lack of sleep may get the higher chance of acquiring dementia later on in their life.

At Wheaton College, three studies were also conducted and these found significant connections between disorder in breathing which might interrupt sleep as well as the build-up of biomarkers found in Alzheimer's disease. According to Chicago Tribune, the researchers then found a way in order to deal with the breathing disorder through the dental appliances or CPAP machines which help someone to breathe in more air. In the other study on 516 cognitively normal adults aged 71 to 78, it was found out that those with sleep disordered breathing had a greater number in beta-amyloid deposits with just a three-year period. The said study proved this regardless of whether these adults had the ApoeE4 gene which has been linked as a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease.

Another study also uncovered that OSA was linked to the increases in amyloid accumulation in older people with mild cognitive impairment or the MCI. Telegraph reported that even if there were studies before which correlated dementia and sleep apnea, still these researchers showed a first look at the relationship between biomarkers and sleep disruption.

Since during sleep, the brain can have the time to wash away all the toxins that have accumulated in the entire day, sleep disruption can prevent that. With this, the brain will not be able to remove and eliminate all the deposits of amyloid plaque during sleep. However, it was not pointed out in the studies of people having trouble sleeping can develop brain disease or people with early stages of brain disease can have trouble sleeping.
