"American Idol" is all set for a comeback as ABC has announced a reboot of the singing reality show but fans of Simon Cowell would be disappointed to know that the judge is not coming back in the renewed season. He has revealed that he was offered the show but he refused as he does not have any interest in it.

"American Idol" fans have some great news as their favorite show is returning on ABC. According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC has confirmed the reboot while also slamming Fox for calling off the show. However, those who are thinking of Simon Cowell's return to the reality show would be disappointed to know that the judge is not coming back despite being asked to do so.

Simon Cowell has revealed that he was asked to judge "Americal Idol" reboot but he refused as he does not have any interest left in the show. Elaborating further, he said that when he had started, the show was pretty different and he does not think ABC can recreate that. He affirmed that he left the show for a reason and never regretted it.

Notably, Simon Cowell left "American Idol" in 2010. The blunt judge known for his sharp comments is currently the producer of "America's Got Talent" and therefore, his chances of comeback were always slim. However, the same cannot be said of Ryan Seacrest, the original host of "American Idol," as he is expected to return, People has learned.

Seacrest revealed on "Live with Kelly & Ryan" that he has been talking to ABC but heir negotiations have not reached so far that he can say anything confidently. The former host said that he did not have any idea about the reboot and the proposal. It was only last week that he heard some rumors.

Nevertheless, he did not confirm if he would return to "American Idol" Season 16. It is worth mentioning here that "American Idol" ran from 2002 to 2016 on Fox.
