A U.S. Marine was stabbed multiple times at Camp Pendleton in California on Saturday, NBC San Diego reported.

The victim was identified as Lance Corporal Emily Hammonds of Virginia Beach. According to Public Information Officer Lt. Savannah Moyer, the incident occurred after Hammonds and a second Marine got into an altercation at the San Diego County base.

Moyer added Hammonds was flown to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment. She was listed in moderate condition.

There are no possible motives at this time and it it unknown if charges will be filed. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service has taken over the investigation, Moyer said.

Further details on the attack have not been released.
