Microsoft, the Redmond based tech giant might be planning to unveil its new Surface book device this year. A new report indicates that Microsoft Surface Book 2 enters mass production recently and shipments are expected to rise each month. The sources from the related upstream supply chain tips that the company will announce its 2-in-1 laptop device at the end of March or April.

According to DigiTimes, Microsoft has reportedly pushed the Surface Book 2 device for mass production. The report claims that the new device will not feature the design of its previous model; instead, it will adopt a clamshell design. The new device from the company is reportedly y tipped to sport a 13.5-inch display and chassis made of magnesium-aluminum-alloy.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is expected to be priced at around $1,000 which is very cheaper than the starting prices of Microsoft's existing Surface Books, whose range is between $1,499-3,199.

It is also reported that Microsoft's decision to lower the price range for its new Surface Book is believed to have two factors. First, the present Surface Book is expensive and the demand for these products have significantly limited. Another factor is the detachable design, which has created conflict with its Surface Pro product line in terms of product position. It is reported that Microsoft has only shipped 500,000 Surface Books in 2016 which is low when compared to other tech giants.

With a cheaper price tag on Surface Book 2, it is reported that Microsoft hopes to gain more revenue from its Surface Book lineup. Also, the report estimates the shipment figures to reach between 1.2 million to 1.5 million units which are appreciably higher than last year's figures.
