Adrian Peterson is still a free agent up until now. The 31-year old running back seems to be having a hard time of looking for a team that will need his skills. Now, some suggest that he should consider of joining a contender team like the New England Patriots but will he take a pay cut in order to play for them?

It is safe to say that Adrian Peterson is the top free agent running back available in the market today. The Minnesota Vikings decide not to pick up Peterson's contract option this year making him a free agent in the process. Though general manager Rick Spielman is open to bringing him back, it came as a surprise that the Vikings appears to be letting one of best NFL player walk away.

Adrian Peterson is once an NFL Most Valuable Player and NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2012. He is also a seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time First-team All-Pro. He's been a three-time NFL rushing yards leader and a two-time NFL rushing touchdowns leader. It's hard to imagine that until now, no team has ever shown interest in acquiring him.

And now, one report is saying that heading to the New England Patriots could be a viable option for Adrian Peterson. According to NFL.com, the Patriots could be the potential destination for Peterson next season. And with a Super Bowl title only missing on him, it makes sense that going to the defending Super Bowl champions is a no brainer.

Sources are also saying that Adrian Peterson would consider accepting a team-friendly contract just to play with the New England Patriots. With that notion, chasing a championship ring could be a reality for Peterson next season. And it looks like that he will fairly fit to coach Bill Belichick system.

Nevertheless, the idea of Adrian Peterson heading to the New England Patriots is still speculation as of this time. But one thing is for sure, Peterson will be one hot commodity for other teams who are seeking for veteran running back like him.
