South Africa is the shooting venue for "Outlander" Season 3 and executive producer Maril Davis has said that the cast and crew are filming in Cape Town. Also, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, the lead pair of "Outlander" recently attended the Emerald Comic Con, where they gave out many details about the upcoming season.

Shooting for "Outlander" Season 3 is underway in South Africa, Carter Matt reported. Executive producer Maril Davis himself shared the news via a Twitter post saying that cast and crew were in Cape Town and much of the footage for "Outlander" Season 3 was being produced over there. Davis also compared the South Africa filming as the "first day of school" because they were working with a large number of new crew members.

According to the "Outlander" Season 3 producer, they needed people with experience and thus, went for the local crew. They knew how to make scenes-at-sea happen. Also, it was costly to fly down the entire crew and provide accommodation for them. Davis expressed confidence that by the time the filming gets around to the three-month period, many of those people would feel like family.

In related news, lead stars of "Outlander" Caitriona Balfe (Claire) and Sam Heughan (Jamie) were at the Emerald Comic Con, TV Insider has learned.  At the event, Caitriona Balfe revealed that she thinks Claire tries to survive in "Outlander" Season 3 as this is what any mother would do. She also said that living apart was an important part of what Claire and Jamie have become in "Outlander" Season 3.

Sam Heughan said that "Outlander" Season 3 would see Jamie's journey without Claire and Jamie would not be himself. Thus, it is about his journey back to being Jamie Fraser. The duo also recounted their supernatural encounters during the shooting and gave a cryptic facial expression when asked about the much-anticipated print shop reunion scene in "Outlander" Season 3. It is worth mentioning here that "Outlander" Season 3 returns in September on Starz.
