It looks like the young Sheldon Cooper, around which the proposed "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff revolves, has been finalized as it is said that child actor Iain Armitage has been approached by CBS to play the role. Also, the spinoff is said to be eying a 13-episode order for the first season.

Though CBS has not made any announcement regarding "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff, it seems it is only a matter of time as the actor, who will be playing the central character, is said to have been finalized. According to Variety, popular star Iain Armitage of "Big Little Lies" fame has been approached by CBS to play the young Sheldon Cooper in the spinoff that has been tentatively titled "Sheldon."

Notably, the eight-year-old-actor, who is also well-known for being a theater critic on social media, currently portrays Ziggy, the outcast son of Shailene Woodley, on the HBO show. So, it would be interesting to watch him play the child prodigy Sheldon Cooper on "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff, whose unique childhood has been referenced multiple times in the CBS show. Also, it is not just young Sheldon who has been selected.

His mother, Mary, who is currently played by Laurie Metcalf, is also said to have been approved, Entertainment Weekly has learned. It is said that Zoe Perry, daughter of Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry, would be essaying the role of a young Mary in "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff. Though the project is still awaiting confirmation, it is almost approved and is said to be looking for a 13-episode order from CBS for the first season.

What is more, it has also come to the fore that the original five cast members of "The Big Bang Theory," including Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki have agreed to take a cut in their pay to accommodate Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik. Well, fans of the CBS show do seem to be getting good news and it should not take long for CBS to make a formal announcement regarding "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff.
