Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber went public with their relationship in February 2011 at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. In November 2012, they split up for the first time after Bieber reportedly had affair with supermodels Barbara Palvin and Miranda Kerr while performing in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Both of them denied hooking up with the "Beauty and a Beat" singer but Gomez lashed out subtly on Twitter about Palvin anyway.
However, that wasn't the end. According to The Mirror, Bieber and Gomez continued an on-again-off-again romance for more than a year after their first split, with each dating other people in between.
In January 2014, Selena cancelled her tour and secretly went to rehab and left after just two weeks. Soon after that, she was photographed with Bieber riding Segways.
According to Radar Online's source, "Selena came to understand just what a bad influence Justin had been on her life. Their relationship left her broken-hearted." The famous couple was spotted together sporadically throughout the next year.
Justin Bieber opened up about the relationship filled with drama in the September 2015 issue of Complex. "We were so in love. Nothing else mattered. We were all about each other," he said. "But when it's like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you...Your full identity can't be in that person. My identity was in her. Her identity was in me."
He added, "I moved in with my girlfriend when I was 18. Started my own life with her. It was a marriage kind of thing. Living with a girl, it was just too much at that age." Gomez lamented to W magazine back in February saying that she is exhausted and honestly so done with Bieber. She added that she cares about his health and well-being but she just can't be with him anymore.
However, that wasn't exactly true as she lashed out at Bieber on Instagram after he went public with his brief romance with model Sofia Richie in August 2016.After that, Selena Gomez quit the social media service, cancelled another tour and checked into rehab again.
Even though her team insisted both rehab stints were due to complications from lupus, Selena's grandfather told The Sun that his granddaughter was under a lot of pressure from work and was worrying about her boyfriend. The doctor advised her to take time out and she did that.
He added that Selena loves Justin but she doesn't want to be with him anymore because of his recent behavior. Selena's grandfather said that he knows Bieber since he started in the industry and thinks he was such a bright young man, but now he worries about him.
So, only time will tell if Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up for good even if Jelena fans believe that they may have already reunited.
