The 'Resident Evil' film series will come to an end next year with the release of 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' in January. The last installment will mark the closure of the 15-years long series that began in 2002 and will also have some unexpected twists and mind-blowing action.

'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' is all set to capture its audience by surprise when it arrives in theaters next month, reports ComingSoon. According to the news outlet, the movie will have better action sequences and the makers are confident that it will attract even more audiences across the globe.

Notably, the previous two chapters namely Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) and Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) saw a fall in terms of patronage. The two did not receive good ratings and it is said that the below-expected performance perhaps acted as the triggers for the producers to conclude the series with 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.'

Meanwhile, director Paul W.S. Anderson, who has helmed all the five films and will also hold the reins in the upcoming sixth and final installment, has said that 'The Final Chapter' will be far more special and different from the past editions, claims Cinema Blend. According to Anderson, the movie marks not just the physical return to the beginning it is also a kind of journey for protagonist Alice to discover the truth about herself, about the Red Queen, the umbrella corporation and its real agenda.

It will be a journey of discovery for Alice because when she was introduced in the first movies, she had memory loss and that memory never came back. So, one really has a woman who does not really know who she is at the center of the franchise and that is a question mark that has always been hanging over the series but the final edition will bring closure for her.

It is worth mentioning here that the 'Resident Evil' franchise is based on the Capcom video games of identical name. 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' stars Milla Jovovich, Ruby Rose, Ian Glen, Ali Larter, and Shawn Roberts and is scheduled to hit theaters on January 27, 2017.
