DC and Warner Bros announced the release date for next DCEU movie "Aquaman".

According to Variety, the movie is scheduled for release on October 5, 2018. The titular character will be played by "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa.

The movie was first set to be in theatres on July 17, 2018, but apparently it has been moved for about three months.

"The Conjuring" director James Wan is directing the film with Peter Safran acting as the producer. Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Rob Cowan were the executive producers, Variety reported.

Apart from Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard has been cast as love interest of Aquaman, Mera, while Willem Dafoe will play the role of Nuidis Vulko. The shooting will start next year in Australia.

While talking with MTV, director James Wan shared how he is planning to completely change the image of Aquaman from being a "butt of the joke" in the superhero world to this magnificent superhero, who will leave the audience in awe.

"I love the idea of being the underdog, coming in with a take on this underdog character and completely blow people's expectations away. Like, 'Oh, you thought he was going to be a wimpy character? No no no.' It's going to be so cool," Wan stated.

With Marvel Cinematic Universe releasing superhero movies back to back, DC is not far behind.

This year saw the release of "Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad". In 2017, "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League" will be released.

Along with "Aquaman", "The Flash" will be released in 2018. "Shazam" has been set to hit theatres in 2019. And 2020 will see "Cyborg" and "Green Lantern" releasing.

Imdb summarizes the "Aquaman" as "Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world."

A glimpse of Jason Momoa as Aquaman was shown in March in a cameo in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". However, before the standalone movie, Jason will reprise his role in "Justice League" in 2017.
