CBS network's action police drama television series NCIS, now on its Season 14, is not done with cancellation rumors. Apparently, the series' ratings are still low, which might cause the network to pull the plug soon.

The series has been plagued with cancellation rumors since the early episodes of NCIS Season 14, where actor Michael Weatherly, who previously portrayed the character Detective Anthony DiNozzo, had departed from the series.

According to a report, eventhough it has been announced that the series was renewed for another season, it is still possible for the network to cancel the series if ratings continue to drop. The exit of Weatherly was one of the reasons why the show was not viewed by as many viewers as before, as per the source.

Aside from that, it was also suspected that the sudden killing of another fan-favorite character, Ziva David, portrayed by actress Cote de Pablo, was not liked by most fans and viewers. Some even reportedly threatened to boycott the series if another favorite character is going to be killed off.

Moreover, as if that was not enough, NCIS main cast Mark Harmon, who plays the role of main protagonist, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, is also rumored to exit from the series to focus on his health. With the number of characters and casts rumored to be written off the next seasons of the series, many are wondering on how the story could go on because the casts' exit can surely affect the ratings.

In a report by The Bitbag, there have been rumors that claim the former cast are going to come back, but this is long been rumored and until now no official confirmation from the network has been heard.

It is also reported that fans did not like it when new cast and characters were introduced in NCIS Season 14. It can be recalled that actor Wilmer Valderrama and actress Jennifer Esposito were added as new cast regulars on the series, replacing Weatherly.

Fans mostly had a negative reaction about the additional cast and reportedly said that instead of helping the series to boost viewership, they turned out to be ruining the show. Due to fans' disappointment, they even requested the network to remove the new casts.

Recently, it was announced that no new episode will be aired this week. Speculations about the series cancellation have sparked again because of this.

However, the network has not issued any official comments to deny or confirm the cancellation of issue yet, but fans are going to find out probably in the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, watch NCIS Season 14 Episode 9 set to air on Dec. 6 on CBS.
