Sony has introduced a new product called the Xperia Ear, Earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Sony Xperia Ear was first released in Japan and now it is making the way in the United States on December 13. 

According to Ubergizmo, Sony has said that the new gadget is a "smart ear" accessory that is able of doing much more than an ordinary Bluetooth earpiece. Sony has confirmed the release date and pricing for the Xperia Ear in the United States, after the Xperia Ear has only just got released in Japan.

According to iTechPost, the Xperia Ear is a smart gadget that will provide you Sony's own version of an AI personal assistant right in your ear. The device can be controlled via voice commands and it can perform various tasks like navigation, dictation and internet searches.

The latest Xperia ear can also provide time and location-based alerts, news alerts, prompts for missed calls and other general notifications.

Sony says that on a single charge, the Xperia Ear will be able to provide up to 3.5 hours of battery life. The tiny, voice-activated earpiece is somehow similar to Apple's Siri-enabled earbuds called the AirPods and to Google Assistant.

Xperia ear is also NFC capable and features Bluetooth 4.1 that is compatible with any smartphone that runs on Android 4.4 with Xperia Ear app installed in it.

The smart gadget from Sony is offering hands-free voice commands once integrated, so the user can tack it onto their ear perform various tasks. User can also control it via head gesture commands. The device can also be set up to perform specific commands at the nod or tilt of the wearer's head and interestingly Xperia Ear is far from a fully voice-enabled and motion controlled gadget.

Sony announced that the Xperia Ear will finally be on sale in U.S. from December 13 at a price of $199.99. Users will have to purchase from Amazon at first, then after a while it will also be available at Fry's, ABT, B&H and other retailers.
