Shiloh Jolie-Pitt dug her heels in and refused to budge till her parents agreed to celebrate their  Thanksgiving with their entire family.

Last week, the children were upset that this year's Thanksgiving would be celebrated without Brad Pitt, according to HollywoodLife.com The 52-year-old Brad Pitt and 41-year-old Angelina Jolie finally gave in to the 10-year-old Shiloh, who demanded that they unite for the great celebration.

"Shiloh has been begging Brad and Angelina for weeks to start being nice to each other," a source said. "Then she sent them both an emotional email asking for the family to spend Thanksgiving together. She let them know that it was what the kids were hoping for."

It was a bright move, as Angelina called Brad and gave him an invitation for a joint family holiday dinner. "It was a totally aboveboard conversation," explained the source. "He thanked her for the invitation and she said 'I think it'll be good for us.'"

Pitt's role would be to bring in the turkey like every year. He "wants the kids to feel like it's the old days, like they're a family again."

Of course, it won't split the decision to split. "This split is as contentious as ever but Brad and Angie know the kids need the security and stability right now," said the source. "They're both going to have to dig very deep. Brad's incredibly apprehensive about the thought of meeting Angelina face-to-face. but he'd put up with almost anything for the chance to spend Thanksgiving with his kids."

Earlier, Pitt apologised to Maddox for their altercation over the phone and through tears. "Not just for that fight but for the tension that had been growing between them as Maddox entered his teenage years." Not having understood it had put up Maddox's back. He actually said: "I should have been a better listener."

It was probably Pitt's fault for not understanding his son, yet his mistake seems so slight. It is not clear how a small error of judgement or behaviour could separate the family so dramatically.

It is time Angelina rethinks and tries to unite with her husband after the Thanksgiving holiday. Will it happen? Doesn't seem so at the moment, but it might.
