Apple's latest mobile operating system, iOS7, is gaining strength with 78 percent of all active iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices using it.

Google's latest monthly statistics does not show a quick adoption rate for its latest Android KitKat platform, but the same cannot be said about the Cupertino tech giant, Apple, and its exclusive mobile OS. The latest version of iOS mobile operating system has hit a 78 percent adoption rate, the highest compared to Apple's previous OS versions.

Apple's developer website since December is now displaying statistics. Apple revealed its monthly statistics showing the adoption rate of different versions of iOS mobile operating system. The data was collected over a seven-day period ending December 29. According to Apple, the share of devices running iOS7 has increased by four points over the last month. The calculations are based on Apple App Store usage.

Apple released the latest mobile OS to the public in mid-September along with iPhone 5S and 5C. The pick-up rate of the new OS is astounding, which is now on most Apple devices within a period of just four months. Excellent sales of iPhone 5S and 5C may have aided the quick adoption rate, as most people upgraded to the latest flagship smartphone. Over 9 million units sold during the opening weekend.

The latest report clearly suggests that Apple's two most recent iOS versions account for 96 percent of all active Apple devices. One year-old iOS 6 has lost four percent since last month, which only contributed to the iOS7 growth, while older versions of iOS account for a stagnant 4 percent.

Apple has been successful in pushing its latest OS to more of its smartphones. Google has a sluggish adoption rate for its latest OS KitKat, whereas the Jelly Bean continues to take the spotlight.
