The return of actress Nina Dobrev to "The Vampire Diaries" has been anticipated for quite a long time now. And finally, that is exactly what's going to happen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, when showrunner and exec producer Julie Plec was asked about whether or not fans will get to see Katherine again in hell, she said, "I will confirm nothing, but the visual similarities are not accidental."

But Wikipedia confirmed Nina's role in Season 8, Episode 14.

Plec further added the questions which will be the key points of the finale season. According to her, the major question is, how will the characters fit in this world?

And revolving around that question will be the follow ups, such as, are these characters doomed? Is there a chance for redemption for them? Can you earn your way back out of a one-way ticket to Hell? And even characters that have been heroes, are they already marked? If so, what the hell are they going to do about it?

Nina's arrival in this power packed season will definitely give it the full circle it needs. Queries are being raised about the character Nina Dobrev will be portraying this season? Is it Elena, Katherine, or someone else?

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, both Katherine and Elena are bad news for the Salvatore brothers. Is there a revenge plot brewing at the season finale?

Itechpost revealed that rumors of Nina returning as an entirely different character is up in the air. She might return as an ally to the season's greatest villain, Sybil, and end up killing the Salvatore brothers.

In a recent interview with TV Guide, Paul Wesley who portrays Stefan Salvatore, stated his idea of how the series should end. He thinks that Stefan should take off his daylight ring and die with Damon. Paul believes it to be the perfect ending.

Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore raised the same question. He said that the brothers should just go to the Caribbean and sit on a beach all night drinking Caribbean wine. And in the morning, they should give each other a hug, take off their rings and throw them in the ocean and that's how it should end.

Looks like the Salvatore brothers are preparing the viewers for a rather tragic end. Will they die in the season finale? If yes, then will Nina's character be the reason behind it?
