Picking up the award for favorite female pop/rock artist, Selena Gomez gave honest and moving speech about the health problems that caused her to go on the treatment and take a time off from showbiz.

As many people know, around a year ago she revealed that she has lupus, an autoimmune illness that can affect people in different ways. Anxiety, depression and panic attacks are side effects of lupus, which presented their challenges for the yang singer.

Selena Gomez bravely shared with the crowd at the Microsoft Theater in LA that back in 2014, this stage was actually the first time that she was authentically 100% honest with all of the people. She added that she thinks that it's safe to say most of the people know a lot about her personal life whether she liked it or not.

"I had to stop, I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside," she continued as her voice shook with emotion.

The 24-year-old star admitted that part of her health issues was caused by working too hard to please everyone.

"I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together, to where I let myself down."

The Same Old Love hitmaker then reflected on social media culture and said she no longer seeks that type of recognition. She doesn't want to see peoples' bodies on Instagram but what's in their hearts.

'I'm not trying to get validation nor do I need it anymore. All I can say is that from the bottom of my heart I'm so grateful to be able to share what I love every single day with the people that I love.

She thanked her fans and said that she doesn't know what she did to deserve them and concluded her speech saying that she cares about people whenever they respect her or not.

While the audience was cheering for Selena Gomez, in close-up appeared Lady Gaga who was stand out in the crowd, obviously overcome with pride for her dear friend.

Sunday was a victorious return to the spotlight for Selena who looked stunning in a scarlet Prada dress.

Obviously, she was so happy that she wouldn't have to face bumping into her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber since his performance at the event took place via satellite as he was in Zurich, Switzerland Sunday. Bieber is currently on a world tour supporting his Purpose album.
