The strange metal fragment that was recovered close to the scene of the notorious 1947 Roswell UFO crash site could potentially hold important clues in solving the mystery of the incident.

The piece of metal, discovered by author Ben Mezrich, is waiting to be tested as he revealed in his new book. He visited the crash site to research more info on his new book, The 37th Parallel, which investigates the UFO road of the same name.

About the book

The 37th Parallel is named after the 37th north parallel in latitude in which part of it is known as the 'Paranormal Highway' due to the many cases of UFO sightings and unexplained animal mutilation occurrences. It is also said to be a location of many U.S. military bases and American Indian holy sites.

About the Roswell case

The Roswell case has been one of the most famous of the UFO scene since July 1947 when the U.S. military publicly announced that it had found the remains of a crashed flying saucer in the nearby desert.

But the following day they took back their initial statement, saying that it was only a damaged U.S. Air Force air balloon. Witnesses later came out to claim that there had been alien bodies within the crashed craft, in which, along with the wrecked flying saucer, were then taken to the mysterious top-secret Area 51 military base in Nevada.

Mezrich didn't believe it before Zukowski made him to

The book by Mr. Mezrich looks at the amount of UFO sightings along the parallel, including the Roswell incident. It also mentioned the works of famous UFOlogist Chuck Zukowski, who has also made investigations on cases along the parallel. Mezrich, who also wrote the best-selling book, The Accidental Billionaires, upon which The Social Network movie is based, admitted to being a total skeptic before. But Zukowski, who is also a former deputy sheriff and current part-time microchip engineer, has convinced him otherwise.
