Already, some Xperia X Performance devices have got the first beta release of Android 7.0 Nougat. It was just one day before that Sony had informed participants in its latest beta program that the first Nougat for the Xperia X Performance would be out soon.

So here it is, now!

However, the beta program is open just for the single-SIM variation of the Xperia X Performance, whose model number is F8131.

While the firmware for the first Nougat is build 39.2.A.0.248, it also happens to harbor its October 1 security patches.

The new features are split-screen multitasking and a notification panel. There are some novel options for the camera app, with manual shutter speed control and manual ISO control at 23MP.

There is also a recent iteration of Stamina Mode. There is an improvement in touch sensitivity, while the auto-rotation bug has been fixed.

Other features remain unchanged. A blogger said: "First impressions show that the new firmware does not highlight a radical change in user interface, as expected."

The news for eager fans is that you can wait for Sony to keep improving its Android 7.0 software. It can also enter further beta builds for the X Performance before the final update is out.
