The New York Jets officially signed former Seattle Seahawks running back C.J. Spiller and waive Knile Davis who was just claimed by the Jets off waivers in the latest NFL trade 2016.

Davis was drafted by Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and stayed with the team for 3 years. But last month, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers for a seventh round pick. And after almost 2 weeks, he was waived by the Packers which the Jets got a chance to claim him. But just hours after Davis was claimed, the Jets release him to make room for Spiller.

According to Newsday, the Jets announced the signing of Spiller after the Seahawks release him last October 26. But the team had to delay the pronouncement until 4pm Wednesday before making it official. Though Jets coach Todd Bowles don't have an idea how Spiller will blend to the team, he said that in the meantime can be a "third back" of the team.

The report also says that the arrival of Spiller would somehow relieve some burden to Jets starting RB Matt Forte and Bilal Powell who are both nursing an injury but still playing through the pain. But coach Bowles clarified that Spiller's role is not to replace Forte and Powell in the lineup.

However, they get him because of his versatility. The one-time Pro Bowler Spiller have a running total of 3,442 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns coming into his 7th year this season.

Furthermore, a report by Bleacher Report states that this could be a shocking news to the 25-year Davis who is expecting to be playing with the Jets after he was claimed by the team. The shock came when the Jets make a move to release RB Troymaine Pope just too absorbed Davis in the lineup. But in the end, the Jets scratched Davis hours later and pick up Spiller instead whom they felt is the best option.

With this happening, it is too early to predict what will happen to Davis career after being left out by the Jets. But he can still go back in the league and hopefully some other teams might pick him up who might need his services.

Did the New York Jets make the right move to sign C.J. Spiller and let go of Knile Davis?
