Android 7.0 Nougat has been rolled out for Google Nexus phones, but it will take some time before it rolls out for other devices. However, Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 3 owners can update their form using a few simple steps.

Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 3 owners can update their devices with Android 7.0 Nougat because XDA developers have come up with a ROM to help them out, reports Giz Bot. The forums of developers have released the AOSP built Android 7.0 Nougat and one can update one's phone by following some simple steps.

First of all, the requisite files of AOSP ROM and Google apps package of Android Nougat need to be downloaded and then one must back up everything on the phone as the installation causes everything on the phone, including internal storage, to be wiped out. The third step involves checking for a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM on the phone and if it is not installed, one has to root the phone and install a custom recovery.

Coming back to the steps, after one has installed custom recovery, one must boot into recovery mode by switching off the device. One must press down the volume and power button at the same time to boot into recovery mode. After this is done, one has to delete complete data from the phone and flash the downloaded files.

When one has flashed the files, a reboot is required again. This might take some more time but one should be patient and wait. When the phone is completely booted, one can be sure of the latest Android version getting updated on the phone.

One should be very careful while following the steps as the said ROM is an experimental version, reports Neuro Gadget. It may also contain bugs and they have caused certain features like video recording, Clock app FC, SystemUI FC to stop working.

Nevertheless, the good thing is that it offers a nice interface, exclusive themes and some additional features that are sure to enhance the user experience.

It is worth mentioning here that Xiaomi is notorious for delaying software updates and sometimes it takes more than a year to usher in the most recent Android version.
