Instant messaging app Telegram went down for two to three hours on Thursday. The Telegram team reported that a problem appeared in the cooling system of the company's data centers.

But Telegram assured its users that their data are safe, according to a tudocelular.com report.

Based on their official Twitter, the connection issues affected Latin America, parts of North America and some other countries. It said that the downtime issues are caused by a hardware issue.

After more than two hours, Telegram announced via Twitter again that 99 percent of the issue has already been solved. 

Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging service. This application is existing in both mobile and desktop systems. By using this app, users can send messages, exchange photos, videos and files. Telegram also provides an optional end-to-end-encrypted messaging, per wikipedia.

In February 2016, Telegram announced that they have 100 million monthly active users and around 350,000 joining every day. It is also said that they are delivering 15 billion messages every day. Telegram messaging app is widely use around the world.

Telegram rarely have meltdown like this. That's why it is more widely used messaging app around the web. 

But now that it happened, it raised speculations around the web as to what is the main reason for its breakdown. 

Their official Twitter said that the main reason for its downtime is its hardware issues. But according also to tudocelular.com, more detailed information about the meltdown of Telegram will be release soon.
