Over the past few weeks, fans became less and less interested and enthusiastic on Sleepy Hollow 4. This can be attributed to various factors but the most important of which is Nicole Beharie's departure from the show.
It can be recalled that Beharie's Abbie Mills died in the finale of the third season of Sleepy Hollow after sacrificing her life to bring down the villain. The viewers of Sleepy Hollow, then, were surprised when FOX announced the series' renewal for its fourth season, but were also immediately disappointed because the creators opted a revamp for Sleepy Hollow 4 without their favorite FBI Agent.
As Entertainment Focus noted, the chemistry between the lead characters, Beharie's Mills and Tom Mison's Ichabod Crane, had created a lovable duo, thus, their seemingly romantic relationship has been the heart of Sleepy Hollow that drove fans to continue watching the series.
The producers, however, decided to create Sleepy Hollows 4 without Beharie, to the viewers' dismay. FOX renewed the show with a new leading lady for Mison's Crane instead. That is, Diana portrayed by Arrow actress Janina Gavankar.
Sleepy Hollow fans did not take Beharie's exit lightly. The transition from Beharie to Gavankar has sparked numerous controversies including the alleged discrimination on women of colors. Beharie, however, confirmed that her departure from the show was her professional decision.
As per Parent Herald, fans expressed their disappointments on Sleepy Hollow 4 by threatening to boycott the show and stop investing their times watching a show that has evolved into something quite indistinguishable and against their likings. Some fans even suggested a cancellation of Sleepy Hollow 4. Apparently, it's Abbie Mills or none at all.
On another note, however, there are still many who expressed hope for Sleepy Hollow 4 and that the viewers should give Gavankar's Diana a chance to fill the void that Beharie's Abbie Mills left.
After all, it's too early to judge as Sleepy Hollow 4 is yet to air in 2017. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
