In its move to replace the Nexus brand, Google must really have something in store with the new Pixel smartphones. Engaging the 6P unit with the Pixel XL can perhaps lead to a few revelations.

Technically, Nexus is very much a part of Google's product lines although Huawei is the known manufacturer. However, with the way the search engine company has been touting the Pixel, it will be necessary to check if the new device really has the edge.

Except from the metallic designs and the rear circular fingerprint scanner, the Pixel XL and the Nexus 6P have some contrasting elements. The new product offers a plain and simple marking with only a somewhat low-profile G displayed at the bottom. Except for a single speaker at the top middle, a sensor beneath and a front-facing camera, there is nothing else to explore upfront.

On the other hand, the Nexus 6P possesses a heavier and larger body. It presents a unique camera wedge instead of a partially glass rear. The Nexus logo is shown in the middle. The edge here is found in front where a dual-speaker configuration has been positioned.

In a capsule, the extra style for the Pixel is its half-glass back case while for the 6P is the camera bump.

Both two smartphones have QHD AMOLED displays. However, the 6P towers it over the new device in terms of screen size with a 0.2-inch difference at 5.7.

Performance-wise, the Pixel XL runs a faster Snapdragon 821 processor from Qualcomm with a 4GB RAM. The Nexus unit has the 810 series plus a 3GB access memory. With regards to storage availability, the XL has limited choices with its 32 and 128GB offerings. The 6P has an extra 64GB option. It is important to include at this point that the Pixel has free unlimited video and photo storage with full resolution.

Battery configurations for the two products are the same with 3450mAh. They both share quick charging capability and USB type-C feature.

Camera specifications for the XL and the 6P are more or less similar with a 12-megapixel proficiency to go with the f/2.0 aperture.

Aside from being protected by the corning Gorilla glass, both units also utilize the Android Nougat OS.

Overall, the Pixel and the Nexus brands share a number of elements judging from the influence of the search engine company but considering that the XL is newer, the big edge lies in the integration of the Google Assistant.
