Excited for Sherlock Season 4?

Good news because the long wait will soon be over for Sherlock fans.

After almost three years of exasperating wait for the next season, Sherlock Season 4 is finally going to air this coming January 2017.

If one can remember, Season 3 last aired in January 2014. Although there is a one-episode special entitled "The Abominable Bride" released in January 2016.

The news is confirmed by Mark Gattis, co-creator, writer and actor (Mycroft Holmes). Gattis has announced that they already finished filming Sherlock Season 4.

He also described the upcoming season as "big chewy stuff, meaty" and "the best one" that they have done so far. By his words, "life changing things can happen".

What is in store in Sherlock Season 4?

Sherlock's archenemy, Moriarty, is presumed to return. Though there must be some plot twist since he violently killed himself in Sherlock Season 2.

It is rumored that another villain will rise. Culverton Smith, the worst villain of the show yet, will be played by Toby Jones.

Unfortunately, fans should not get too excited as Season 4 can also be the show's last one.

Steven Moffat, creator of the show, said that it is very possible that Sherlock will end at Season 4 because of the availability of the main actors.

Benedict Cumberbatch who plays as Sherlock Holmes in the hit BBC TV Series is also portraying Marvel's Doctor Strange. While Martin Freeman who plays as Dr. John Watson is also very busy with other shows and movies.

The news of Sherlock ending in Season 4 is also confirmed by Benedict Cumberbatch himself.

In a recent interview with GQ, the 40year-old actor said that, "It might be the end of an era. It feels like the end of an era, to be honest."

The "Doctor Strange" star also added, "It goes to a place where it will be pretty hard to follow on immediately."
